Fashionista Fridays : Blankbird1:56 PM
Just as i was getting ready for this post i was on Nicole's blog Blankbird thinking to my self how does she always look that good. I'm not kidding, look at her outfit posts she seems to have this effortless beauty in her photos. Now that i think about it she looks flawless in person too & she is the sweetest girl. I love the way she mixes different prints and colours, its very different and daring without being over the top. I was lucky enough to get her to be apart of my October Blogger FF series. Here is a little bit more about Nicole and Blankbird
Everyday Like This: What is the name of your blog and when did you start it?
Nicole: Blankbird – it started off with a mix of travel ramblings and food shots but I posted my first outfit post around Feb this year!
What made you start a blog?
I was really just searching for something to do apart from my music. I’m a piano performance student at uni and have always been enthusiastic about fashion, though never did anything about it. I thought it’d be a good creative outlet, to delve into something ‘different’ and see where it led!
What are the kind of posts we can find on your blog?
Mostly personal style, outfit posts, the odd trend/shopping inspiration and more recently, some styling work that I’m very excited about and hope to do more of. Oh, perhaps the odd food and travel diary too ;)
Where do you get inspiration for posts?
I find that I’m subconsciously influenced by things around me –creative personalities I meet, maybe the indie artsy hole-in-the-wall café, pretty tea sets, lookbooks (I probably enjoy browsing them a little too much) – and notice it only in hindsight!
Does living in Melbourne influence your style?
Definitely! I think Melbournians are more thoughtful, experimental and receptive in terms of personal style and it definitely encourages you to have a go!
Favorite place in Melbourne?
This probably changes on a weekly basis. I really enjoy exploring the laneways that Melbourne is all about, discovering for myself that little awesome store that sells cute polka dotted jeans, the odd French creperie, yet another cafe that’s made it on Broadsheet – I’ve got a brunch list that I’m working my way through..
Favorite places to shop?
I definitely do my fair share of browsing online, from ASOS to Shopbop, The Iconic, and Market HQ. In person though (time permitting) I love checking out Brunwick St for some quirky finds and delicious noms, Chapel St for lots of Aussie designers, city for convenience.
Describe your personal style?
Things that I usually go for: asymmetrical cuts, sheer fabrics, vibrant prints, whimsical florals – I love minimalistic dressing as much as I do clashing crazy prints so I’m not sure I have one ‘defined’ style but underlying the mix of silky and printy pieces that is my wardrobe is probably something creative yet accessible.
What does fashion mean to you?
